    Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

An Espresso Martini is my favorite drink around the holidays, and you'll LOVE this festive holiday version. This Festive Holiday Espresso Martini has a candy cane rim, is the perfect post-dinner pick-me-up cocktail, and is my favorite Christmas Eve tradition.

    Holiday Espresso Martini Ingredients

Here's what you'll need for this Holiday Espresso Martini:

    • Candy canes
    • Chocolate syrup
    • Kahlua
    • Vodka (my favorite is Titos)
    • Simple syrup (store-bought or homemade)
    • *HOT* espresso
    • Milk, half-and-half or cream

How to Make these Espresso Martinis

It's so easy to make these holiday espresso martinis - and it's the perfect Christmas Eve or Christmas Day cocktail. You just add ice to a cocktail shaker and add your liquid ingredients (Kahlua, simple syrup, vodka and HOT espresso). You want the espresso to be hot because it will make the perfect foam for the espresso martini! Shake the cocktail shake until all of the ingredients are cold.

Go ahead and add chocolate syrup to a plate. On a separate plate, crush your candy canes. Dip the rim of your cocktail glass into the chocolate syrup, and then into the crushed candy canes so that they will stick to the rim.

Pour the contents, without the ice, into the cocktail glass. That's it. Enjoy!

    How to Make Simple Syrup

While you can definitely go ahead and purchase pre-made store-bought simple syrup, it is SO easy to make it on your own. It's also much cheaper. You only need two things: sugar and water.

    1. Add equal parts sugar and water to a pot (I typically do ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup of water).
    2. Bring contents to a boil, until the sugar is completely dissolved.

You can put the simple syrup you don't use into a jar and store it in the fridge to keep for other cocktails throughout the season!
