I'm always looking for new ways to date my spouse. That's why I asked YOU all on Instagram your top recommendations for both at-home and out-of-the-house date night ideas. I compiled the following list so that next time you're trying to decide what to do for a date night with your spouse, you can come back here for some ideas!

At-Home Date Night Ideas
Here were your top recommendations for your favorite date night ideas when you don't feel like leaving the house:
Homemade Pizzas
This was probably the top recommendation for an at-home date night. SO many of you said you love making homemade pizza, and playing a game or watching a movie together. Lots of you said you have this pizza oven that you love - sounds like a perfect gift idea to me! Tip: some pizza places will sell their dough for $5!
Virtual Cooking Class
Another top recommendation for an at-home date night was a virtual cooking class. There are lots of these through Cozymeal, Sur La Table, or Airbnb (this Indian one looks amazing and has rave reviews!). It would be so fun to try a new wine from the store, make a new cocktail or mocktail, and enjoy a virtual cooking class at home!
Online Magic Show
A few of you recommended this online magic show and said it was almost equally as impressive online as it is in person! Making homemade apps and attending a virtual magic show sounds like a great night to me.
Game Night
This was another top recommendation - making some fun drinks or a new recipe, and enjoying a game night. Charlie and I absolutely love doing this. Our favorite games are Golf (played with a deck of cards), Scat (also played with a deck of cards), Phase 10, Uno, Codenames and Jenga.
Living Room Movie Night
This is SO up my alley - put an air mattress in the living room, go get a bunch of movie theatre snacks, and watch a movie under blankets in the living room.
Party Night Without the Party!
Love this idea, it sounds so fun. Have a party at home, without the party! Make your favorite party appetizers or finger foods, play games and cards, and listen to fun music.
Make a Full-Course Dinner
Take the time to make a complex, three-course dinner! Make a fun appetizer, dinner, and dessert - and pair with your favorite drinks. My neighbor has this book that they use for date nights, and has said great things about it!
Snack Ranking
Go to an international foods store and pick up new snacks to bring home, try, and rate together!
Specialty Backyard Cocktail
Make a specialty cocktail that you wouldn't typically make, and enjoy it in the backyard, on your patio, or in any outdoor space! Something a lot of you recommended is Shaker & Spoon. This is a subscription box that sends you everything you need to make new, fun cocktails. Each box is built around one spirit. The recipe cards (and how-to videos) guide you through mixing and garnishing the cocktails, step by step, and the glossary explains any unfamiliar bartending terms. You just follow the instructions, and you can create bar-quality drinks to enjoy at home!
"Chopped" Night
Give your partner a mixed bag of random ingredients to cook with, and enjoy the meal together!
Virtual Painting Class
Take an online painting class through something like Canvas n Cup! They send you everything you need to enjoy a nice at-home date together.
Theme Night
This idea is SO fun!! Pick a country and build a theme night around it - food, drinks, dessert and movie included, all based around that country. Or just make a themed meal! For example, Mexican food & margaritas, or Italian food & wine tasting.
Out-of-the-House Date Night Ideas
Here were your top recommendations for date night ideas when you are in the mood for getting out and about, and leaving the house:
Plan a Picnic
One of our personal favorites 🙂 we love packing up a picnic (either making things at home or getting takeout), bringing some wine or seltzers, and packing a game to-go!
Sporting Event
We LOVE doing date nights at a baseball game.
Once-A-Month
Pick a local museum, art show, or cultural event to go to in your town or city once a month.
Go For a Drive
I love the simplicity of this idea. This person specifically said, "ice cream and driving back roads while genuinely talking to each other and enjoying time together." I feel like long car rides are the best because the driver can't be on their phones so it's the perfect time to really make yourself disconnect and be fully present in the conversation.
Mini Golf and Ice Cream Date
Play a round of putt putt and go out and grab ice cream afterwards!
Progressive Dinner/Bar "Hopping"
Have a progressive dinner or "bar hopping" experience! Have a drink at one bar, an appetizer at the next bar, dinner at a restaurant, and then dessert at another. Or, how around to 2-3 restaurants or bars in one area. Sit at the bar, order one appetizer or something to split at each place!
Comedy Club
Love a good comedy show! If you live in the DC area, our favorite is DC Improv.
Top Golf
You can't go wrong! Our favorite 🙂
Kayaking Day Date
Go kayaking, then stop by your favorite place for a drink or food! Charlie and I personally love going kayaking then grabbing a beer at a local brewery.
Bowling & Dinner
Or, forget dinner and just go bowling! Charlie and I LOVE bowling.
Play Tourist for the Night
Play tourist for the night! Pretend you aren't from where you are. What would you plan? Would you do an architecture tour? Try a new restaurant? Local ghost tour? Pretend you're on vacation!
Axe Throwing!
We still haven't been, but we've heard amazing things!
Escape Room
A lot of people recommended this one! You can see if you have one near where you live here.
Rent Bikes
Charlie and I have done this on the Georgetown Canal and we LOVED it. Rent some bikes, go for a ride, then stop and pick up sandwiches or ice cream at your favorite local spot.
Visit Estate Sales & Open Houses
How fun!!
Trivia Night
Lots of bars or restaurants near us have trivia nights and they're SO much fun! Find a local place near you and enjoy a trivia night game together.
Is there anything I'm missing? What are your favorite date nights with your significant other? Would love any and all suggestions!
Emily says
Love all of these ideas Bailey! My boyfriend and I are both teachers so date nights tend to slide to the end of the list during the school year. We have committed to 1 date night a week this summer and are committing to at least 1 a month this next school year. This list will be frequently referenced!
